We often assume financial pressure makes people cautious about new technology. What if, sometimes, it does the opposite?

McKinsey’s latest global farmer survey is a good reminder that Adoption doesn’t always follow Trust—and that the attractiveness of an option tells us surprisingly little about the decision itself. Across markets, situations, constraints, trade-offs, and the cost of waiting can change the calculus. The more interesting question isn’t whether AI will enter another industry, but what happens to decision-making when capital is constrained, information is abundant, and technology itself is changing how people decide.
